Sibling Rivalry: An ancient conflict

One of the oldest conflicts of mankind was recorded in the Bible: Cain and Abel.  Who isn’t familiar with the story of these two brothers? One was so envious of the other that he decided to get rid of him.

Living under the same roof with another human being can be pretty nerve racking! Patience and generosity does not always prevail.

Even though you might want to “strangle” the living daylights out of your brother, sister, or cousin, a person of sound mind and body should be able to resist the temptation.

Can you think of a time that you lost your calm with your sibling? Something that made you so mad, you felt like taking revenge? What happened? Who was to blame? How did you resolve the conflict? Did your parents have to intervene and mediate? What will you do in the future to avoid other conflicts that may occur?

Welcome back!

It’s hard to believe we’re beginning another school year. Time goes by so fast! It seems like just the other day we were packing our things and getting ready for a nice long summer vacation.  In a wink of an eye, we’re back again, ready to start afresh. We’re filled with hopes and expectations that this year will be a different one.  We want it to be another school year filled with exciting things.

What are your expectations for this new school year? What would you like to happen? Would you like to have new classmates? Will you work harder to improve your grades? Are you up to the challenge of new assignments or projects? Would you like to participate in the extra-curricular activities offered by the school? Whatever happens, I hope this will be a year of growth for you. A year that when you look back you will say: “It was a good year!” Best wishes for an excellent year. ~~LMM
